1961 Qualifier Round: Halos sweep Nats in 2 straight extra inning contests.

7/28 - LA Wrigley Field
GAME 1 - Angels 5, Senators 4 (14 inn)

Ken_Hunt_LAA Between 5 extra innings and a half our rain delay this marathon lasted five hours and twenty two minutes.  The fans certainly got their money's worth here in La-La land.  Heading into the bottom of the 8th the Nats had a 4-1 lead that Bennie Daniels handed off to Marty Kutyna.  That lead evaporated when Ken Hunt lined a 3 run shot with 1 out.  Neither team would score again until the bottom of the 14th when Steve Bilko doubled off of Dave Sisler with one out.  Ken Hunt came through once again with a line shot single to center to score Bilko for the walk off win.

7/29 - Griffith Stadium
GAME 2 - Angels 2, Senators 1 (10 inn)

Once again it took extra frames to decide who was going to be the winner.  Eli Grba wasLee_Thomas_LAA masterful for 7 1/3 shutout innings, but Tom Morgan and his defense let him down as the Nats tied it in the bottom of the 9th.  George Thomas' two out error on a routine grounder to 3rd allowed "Mean" Gene Green to score the tying run.  Once again the Halos would victimize Dave Sisler in extra innings as pinch hitter Lee Thomas hit a solo shot with 1 out in the top of the 10th.  Donohue would close it out with a save by tossing a perfect bottom of the 10th to eliminate the Nats.
