GAME 3 - Braves 6, Dodgers 5 (11 inn)
Sandy Koufax vs Bob Hendley
LA jumped to a huge 4-0 lead in the top of the first only to see Koufax proceed to give it all back with a sub par effort in the early going. Frank Howard's 3 run homer followed up Tommy Davis' RBI single to get things started. Back to back RBI singles by Milwaukee's HOF duo of Eddie Mathews and Hank Aaron cut LA's lead in half. Back to back homers by Aaron and catcher Joe Torre put Milwaukee up by 1. Koufax would finally find his rhythm and shut the Braves out for the next 5 innings. Frank Howard's sac fly to score Tommy Davis in the 6th tied the game up. Neither team scored after the 6th, so the game headed to extra innings with the Braves desperately needing the win to avoid facing an 0-3 deficit. Larry Sherry would give up a 1 out single to Roy McMillan in the bottom of the 11th. Two batters later Lee Maye would double "Mac" home with 2 outs for the game winner off of Pete Richert, who was brought in to get the preferred lefty/lefty matchup.
Dodgers lead series 2-1
